Aorta is a hands on direct action art collective curating the queer, feminist art movement in print and in community spaces. We infiltrate and challenge the mainstream art world with accessible media that actively creates spaces for underrepresented, radical and alternative arts communities. Our main project is Aorta: Radical Arts Magazine, a self-produced and distributed publication that features a diversity of emerging and established queer, female and transgender artists. We commit to bring the perspective of these artists to the broader community through this publication, educational outreach, arts exhibitions and active participation in and organizing of community forums.

Vision:
Aorta encourages the cross-pollination of accessible art and identity between diverse arts communities. We represent feminist, queer and transgender artists of all mediums that push boundaries and create dialogue between artists and audiences. Our goals are to improve the visibility of a group of artists who are significantly marginalized on the basis of their gender and/or sexuality, to be a source of documentation for the extraordinary work this group produces, and to serve as a space for free artistic expression and a vehicle for social change through the avenue of independent publishing, community outreach, community art exhibitions and collaboration.
